LOCATION
The BMSS Annual Meeting is
being held in the Exhibition Centre at the University of York.
The location of the
University, the Exhibition Centre and Halls of Residence can be found at the
website

SCIENTIFIC SESSIONS, POSTER SESSIONS, MANUFACTURER WORKSHOPS AND EXHIBITION
The Scientific Sessions
will be held in the Lecture Theatres P/X001 (main theatre), P/L001 and
P/L002, which are all located in the Exhibition Centre.
The Poster Sessions
will be split between an area in the main Exhibition Hall and Room P/L005
and P/L006 (adjacent to the main exhibition hall).
The Exhibition is in
the main area of The Exhibition Hall.
The Scientific Programme is available on the BMSS website

REGISTRATION
(only applicable to named
exhibitors who have taken up the two places to attend the Scientific
Sessions NOT to those who are only attending to be present on their
exhibition stands)
Sunday : 15.00 to
18.00 in the Conference Office in the Exhibition Centre
Monday, Tuesday,
Wednesday: 08.00 onwards in the Conference Office in the Exhibition
Centre.
EXHIBITOR ONLY PERSONNEL
i.e. attending to only be
present on their exhibition stands badges, to denote affiliation with the
Meeting, will be issued AT THE Meeting by, either Anna Upton (if names have
been submitted in advance), or by
Dave Collison.
Such personnel will not be admitted to the Scientific Sessions.
PARKING
All cars should be parked in
a visitor car park (marked Pay and Display). Campus South or Campus West are
closest to the halls of residence and the Exhibition Centre.

ALL VISITOR CAR PARKS ARE
PAY AND DISPLAY Monday to Wednesday only.
Parking permits are enclosed
only for those who have ordered and paid for their parking in advance of the
meeting. Replacements for lost permits will be charged at the full rate.
ACCOMMODATION
Accommodation for persons staying in University
Halls of Residence will be in James College.
Key Collection: Keys should be collected
from Goodricke Porters Lodge.
Keys are available for collection:

Rooms have the following:
Towels and soap, Shaver points, 13amp power
point, Telephones - ensuite rooms only phone cards can be purchased from
the Porters Lodge, Tea and coffee making facilities.
ROOMS MUST BE VACATED BY 9.00am ON THE DAY
OF DEPARTURE
KEYS MUST BE RETURNED TO THE GOODRICKE
PORTERS LODGE.
LUGGAGE CAN BE LEFT AT THE PORTERS LODGE.

NOTE - Breakfast and Dinner for all delegates
staying in University Halls will be in Roger Kirk Centre

Lunch, for those exhibitors who have ordered
and pre-paid in advance, will be served in the Roger Kirk Centre (by ticket,
distributed at registration)

Facilities at York for lunch for those who have
chosen not to purchase lunch tickets are limited. The Edge in Wentworth
College is open 12.00 13.45 for lunch with snacks available during the
day. A Cost Cutter store is located in Market Square (adjacent to the
Information Centre).
BAR
McQs Bar will be open

Evenings Sunday 19.00 to 23.00
Monday 18.00 to 00.00
The bar will not open on Tuesday.
CONFERENCE OFFICE
The Conference Office: The office will
be located on the ground floor of the Exhibition Hall and will be open from
15.00 to 18.00 Sunday 7th September; from 8.00 to 19.30 Monday and Tuesday,
8th & 9th September and to 15.00 on Wednesday 10th September 2008

Messages: Messages can be passed to the
Conference Office BUT the office staff will not seek
out individual delegates. A notice board will be available at the conference
office where messages will be displayed or can be left.
INTERNET ACCESS
Internet Access for delegates staying in the
halls of residence in en-suite rooms is available via the telephone a Uni-Tel
needs to be purchased (£10+VAT) from the College Reception a username and
password will be issued, individuals need to bring an Ethernet or CAT-5
cable to connect their laptop .
Each Exhibition stand will be provided with
WiFi access Dave Collison
will provide details.
SCIENTIFIC PROGRAMME
The provisional Scientific Programme is
available on the BMSS website
www.BMSS.org.uk . The final programme will
be distributed at registration in the Delegate Wallets.
SPEAKERS
ALL SPEAKERS MUST bring their
presentations (which should be in Powerpoint v 2003 or later) on CD, zip
disk or stick to the Conference Office by lunch time (at the latest) on the
day before they are due to present their oral. Speakers for Monday are asked
to bring their presentations to the Conference Office as soon as they arrive
on Sunday.
POSTERS
The Poster Sessions will be split
between the area adjacent to the Exhibition and in Room P/L005 and P/L006
(adjacent to the Exhibition and Lecture Theatres).
Poster Boards: The boards are Portrait 1
metre wide and 2 metres high: posters are affixed with velcro
Displaying posters: Delegates whose
abstracts have been accepted as posters should consult the Abstracts Book
issued at registration to obtain the number of their poster. Posters can
be put up between 16.00 and 18.00 on Sunday 7th September or 8.00 and 11.00
on Monday 8th September.
Poster sessions are:
ODD numbers on Monday 8th September 2008
EVEN numbers on Tuesday 9th September
2008.
NOTE - Poster Presenters should have lunch
before presenting their poster.
Posters should be taken down by 09.00 on
Wednesday 7th September 2008 any that have not been taken down will be
removed.
ABSTRACTS BOOK
The Abstracts Book (containing abstracts of
most of the oral presentations and all, but late submitted posters) will be
distributed at registration in the Delegate Wallets. All abstracts will be
available for viewing on the BMSS website
www.BMSS.org.uk after the meeting.
MANUFACTURER WORKSHOPS
The Manufacturer Workshops will run on
Sunday, 7th September 2008 from 16.00 to 18.00 in Lecture Theatres
P/L001 and P/L002 in the Exhibition Centre.
EXHIBITION
The Exhibition will be located in the
Exhibition Hall. A list of the Exhibitors to date is available on the BMSS
website www.BMSS.org.uk . There are a
number of slots in the scientific programme which allow delegates an
opportunity to visit the exhibition.
An Exhibitors Wine Reception
(co-sponsored by Jaytee Biosciences and the BMSS), to which all delegates
are invited, will be held in the Exhibition Area on Monday 8th September
2008 from 17.30 to 18.30.
SOCIAL EVENTS
Sunday: Music Quiz in the Bar in McQs
in Goodricke College from 20.00 free to all attendees at the meeting.
Monday: Pub Games from 20.00 free to
all attendees. Sponsored by ThermoFisher
Tuesday:
Conference Dinner with a Live Band the Casino
Band, in the Galleria Restaurant.
Roger Kirk Centre: Reception Drink (sponsored
by the University of York) at 19.30, dinner at 20.00 - to be pre-booked
(please have tickets, which will be in the registration pack, ready for
collection when entering).
